If you cast your mind back far enough to the earlier seasons of Young Sheldon you might be able to remember his close friendship with Tam, who later made a reappearance in season seven, and in Big Bang Theory. Sheldon and Tam seemed really well suited to each other, both being interested in the same things despite their age gap.

When we meet Tam during Young Sheldon, he and Sheldon become fast friends after discovering they both like comic books and feel like social outcasts. before his cameo in season seven, we last saw Tam during season four at which point he slightly randomly seemed to disappear from the show after leaving Medford High School.
However, an episode from Big Bang Theory seems to explain what happened to their friendship after Young Sheldon, and it doesn’t look good for the pair. When they meet again in Big Bang Theory, Tam is in his mid-40s and neither he nor Sheldon have spoken to each other in over 20 years.
Sheldon admits he thinks of Tam as his mortal enemy because of how he betrayed him. As for the betrayal in question? Well, apparently Tam broke his promise to go to university in California with Sheldon and become roommates after he met his girlfriend. Sheldon was so hurt by this he even admitted to Amy that he thought he’d never want to be friends with anyone else after Tam. Poor Sheldon!
