As if getting stung by millions of bees was not horrible enough, his family left him at a shelter following the tragedy.
The deaf Pit Bull, who the rescuers named Stinger, arrived at the shelter with potentially fatal sores all over his body.
They intended to put the dog to death because they could not treat one in such terrible shape.
At that point, Greater Grand Rapids, Michigan-based LuvnPupz rescue operator Carri Shipaila intervened to provide assistance. She quickly got in her car and traveled for almost an hour to pick up Stinger from the shelter after learning about him.
Unfortunately, his family was unable to accept him, so she started working to save Stinger’s life right away. They took care of his stings, sarcoptic mange, and the ensuing skin infection.
Regretfully, he ended up with an autoimmune disease called Pemphigus, from which he will never fully recover.
He will never be available for adoption due to the expense of his care, but he did find a loving permanent home with a foster family, and he will still get treatment and care from LuvnPupz.
Since he was first abandoned at the shelter, Stinger has gone through so much change. His beautiful white coat has finally come off, and his painful blisters have healed.
He is thriving in his new home and is such a happy, affectionate dog!
