Kaley Cuoco’s unexpected first impression of Jim Parsons confirmed he was the perfect match for Sheldon Cooper in TBBT.
The Big Bang Theory transformed the comedy sitcom genre and presented six beloved characters that quickly became fan favorites. The show brought several relationships to the forefront. But out of the lot, the most heartwarming was the one between Jim Parsons’ Sheldon Cooper and Kaley Cuoco’s Penny.
In another one of such moments, Cuoco revealed in a past interview why she thought Parsons would have been the perfect Sheldon after meeting the actor during the auditions.
Kaley Cuoco and Jim Parsons’ First Impression of Each Other
The Big Bang Theory ran for 12 laughter-filled seasons and depicted the lives of four awkward but genius friends who navigated through love, life, and friendship. While Sheldon and Leonard were best friends on the show, his dynamics weren’t the most ideal with Leonard’s on-and-off girlfriend, Penny, in the initial seasons.
But this soon changed as the duo got to know each other better, with Sheldon even giving a heartwarming speech at her wedding with Leonard. But while the viewers cannot imagine any other actor apart from Jim Parsons playing the role, Kaley Cuoco revealed in a past interview why she thought Parsons would be the perfect Sheldon on the show.
During a 2019 interview with Entertainment Weekly, when the host asked the entire cast about their first impressions of each other, Cuoco was the first person to answer the question. She said when she arrived for her audition, she saw Parsons sitting quietly in a corner by himself. Cuoco added:
He was very quiet and had a BlackBerry in his hand, playing with it. He looks at me and said, “You don’t know how to work this thing, do you? I just got it.” He was very cute how he said it. I thought he could totally play Sheldon. Charming and innocent.
On the other hand, Parsons was already well aware of who Cuoco was, as he had seen some of her previous projects. Further, Johnny Galecki also chimed in on the actress and added that the entire cast viewed her as the coolest member. And that as soon as they finished their scenes and live tapings, she would leave so quickly that they assumed she had a more exciting social life than they did.
But as soon as she began spending more time with the cast, she confessed that instead of any grand plans, she just heads home to ride her horses.
Will Jim Parsons Reprise His Role in a TBBT Sequel?
The Big Bang Theory concluded in 2019, and the main reason for its ending was Jim Parsons. As detailed by Kaley Cuoco in a past interview, Chuck Lorre called the entire cast to his office to announce that Parsons won’t be coming back for another season.
While the news was indeed a sad one for the fans, when he reprised his role in the finale of Young Sheldon, it made everyone wonder if Parsons would be open to another TBBT sequel.
The same question was asked to the actor in a recent interview as to what it would take to get him to do a sequel. To this, he replied, “Reincarnation, next lifetime.” While his answer was disappointing for the fans, he further added, “Never say never to anything. Life is long, God-willing, but I don’t think so.”
Interestingly, Parsons was also the narrator of Young Sheldon, which depicted the early years of Sheldon Cooper’s life in East Texas. For the finale, Chuck Lorre, who’s also the showrunner for the show, brought in Parsons as well as Mayim Bialik reprising their TBBT roles.
