There was quite an argument on the set of The Big Bang Theory between Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki. The reason may surprise you.
Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki not only played a couple in The Big Bang Theory, but also bonded privately. However, working with each other wasn’t always a pleasant experience, as they found out one day when the so-called “Tuna-Gate” occurred. The actors argued with each other to the point that they refused to play a scene with each other. It went about a rather trivial thing, and nothing foreshadowed that there would be such a big argument.
During an interview with Vanity Fair, Cuoco and Galecki recalled the situation, detailing how they argued over tuna. That’s right, the source of their dispute was the fish Galecki was eating.
The actor explained that he was trying to lose weight for the play he was starring in, so he ate such meals. And the other day he asked Jim Parsons on the set if the smell of fish bothered him, to which he replied that it did not. The Leonard actor apparently assumed that the rest of the cast would have a similar attitude, but that wasn’t the case at all, as Cuoco proved with her perspective in the same interview.
It smelled so horrendous, and finally I was like, “I can’t do this scene with you. This is disgusting. Go eat somewhere else and then come back and do it.” So Johnny walked off and threw his tuna in the trash. He was like, “Fine!” We both stormed off. I was like, “I’m not working with tuna-head today. I just can’t.” I mean, I was livid. And Johnny was like, “Is that how you talk to me? I needed my food!” It was so dumb, but we were pissed at each other. He called it Tuna-Gate.
Of course, this one dispute didn’t harm their long-standing relationship. The actors admitted that they were very close at the time, so “Tuna-Gate” was just a temporary crisis that didn’t affect the TV series itself either. Cuoco and Galecki, however, are currently no longer together, although it was hardly tuna that led to their breakup.
