Several Cooper family members will be featured in the Young Sheldon sequel series. While the show will primarily follow Montana Jordan’s Georgie and Emily Osment’s Mandy, at least three main characters from Young Sheldon will also appear in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.
Per Variety, it’s been revealed that Season 1 of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage will feature guest appearances from Zoe Perry as mother Mary Cooper, Annie Potts as Meemaw, and Raegan Revord as sister Missy. It hasn’t been confirmed just yet if Iain Armitage will also return as Georgie’s younger brother, Sheldon, but executive producer Chuck Lorre spoke about the possibility on Saturday during the CBS portion of the Television Critics Association press tour.
“I hope so,” Lorre said of Armitage’s potential return. “We’re going slowly on this. There’s a learning curve for us. But, you know, Georgie’s mother and sister and grandmother are very much part of this world.”
Raegan Revord Gets Her Invite to Return for the Spinoff
This must be good news for Revord, who previously shared her disappointment about not being asked to return as Missy in the Young Sheldon spinoff. In March, Revord posted on social media about the news of Georgie and Mandy getting their own spinoff series. She told Jordan, ‘Wishing you all the best over there brother,” while clarifying in a follow-up post that she “wasn’t invited” to make an appearance as Missy.
“It breaks my heart,” Revord also said in an interview about her character’s fate that’s revealed in The Big Bang Theory. “She just doesn’t have it easy. Her whole life, she was kind of ignored because of her [twin] brother, and the one person who paid her attention died. She’s left with a grieving mom who probably [isn’t] there for her the way that she should have been because they’re all dealing with [George’s death] in their own way. Mary very much leans into her religion… and in Big Bang, Missy’s a waitress, she’s got all these kids [and] she’s the least successful Cooper kid.”
It’s also been revealed that Rachel Bay Jones and Will Sasso will return for the new series as Mandy’s parents, Audrey and Will. They are expected to have a much bigger presence in the spinoff than the Cooper family members. It’s not yet clear if Jerry O’Connell, who played the older Georgie in The Big Bang Theory, will have any involvement.
