Young Sheldon just let all of its plotlines come crashing down at the same time, and Missy Cooper is taking things harder than anyone.
Fans knew that the back half of Young Sheldon was going to be a point of no return for multiple storylines. But it seemed like everything came to a head in “A Launch Party and a Whole Human Being.” Sheldon’s database went online and was a massive failure. Meanwhile, Mandy and Georgie had their baby. If that wasn’t enough, George and Mary’s extra-marital wishes came to light.
On the heels of that consequential episode, “Teen Angst and a Smart-Boy Walk of Shame” had a lot of repercussions to address. It picked up right where things left off, and it didn’t pull any punches. The episode highlighted the Coopers’ shortcomings, but it zoomed in on Missy. She might not be the smartest Cooper child, but she’s definitely the most perceptive — which sent her on a spiral.

Missy Felt Confused and Betrayed
Missy was the most underrated part of “A Launch Party and a Whole Human Being.” While everyone else was at the hospital, she was at school. With everything going on, they forgot to get her for the baby’s birth — or even pick her up at the end of the school day. She had to walk home with Billy Sparks. Because of all that, Missy wasn’t very happy. She was the “teen angst” in “Teen Angst and a Smart-Boy Walk of Shame.” She played loud music and would barely talk to her father. There were also quite a few snide comments about forgetting her.
However, Missy wasn’t just mad. Sheldon was worried about his failed database, and Georgie was worried about the new baby. So, Missy was the only one that really noticed that her mother didn’t come home. She knew that something was wrong, and she tried to ask her father about it. They had always been able to talk in the past, but George stonewalled her. So, Missy felt confused and betrayed. She even let her emotions run wild in school, where she insulted one of her teachers and got sent home.
Young Sheldon May See A Heartbreaking Death Way Before George’s Death
In a surprising turn of events, Georgie and Mandy worked through the problems of new parenthood, though their relationship is still headed for tragedy. George and Mary, on the other hand, didn’t work anything out. They confronted each other but didn’t come to any conclusions — and Missy could see that. The problem was that she knew George and Brenda had been seeing each other. However, George had told her that everything was on the up and up and, because he was her father, she believed him. But seeing how everything was happening, she realized that her father had lied to her.
The fact that her father openly lied to her — combined with being repeatedly neglected in favor of Sheldon — made her world come crashing down. At the very end of the episode, she packed a bag and stole George’s pickup truck. Who knows how that escapade will end, but it’s only a sign of things to come. Georgie referred to Missy as a “dumb teenager” on The Big Bang Theory, so it’s clear that she’s only at the beginning of her rebellious phase. Unfortunately, her parents’ marital issues are taking a toll on her, but it’s only going to get worse — especially after George’s affair.
