Mam Nata was abandoned in front of IAPA on Christmas Eve 22, being around 8 weeks pregnant – almost ready to give birth.
When Instituto Amor em Patas (IAPA) discovered her, she was extremely weak, unable to stand, and terrified. It took some time to soothe her. Her owner had abandoned her due to fear of her impending puppies.
Initially, when she encountered the shelter volunteers, she was so defensive that she used all her energy to keep them at bay – a protective mother – but eventually, she let down her guard and became friendly
“Look at her belly – it could be 13 or 14 babies inside. We plan to schedule her test for tomorrow because she is quite weak,” a volunteer mentioned.
“Tonight will be a very long night for Natajuli and for us. We are preparing for her ultrasound to ensure that everything is in order.”
Natajuli was allowed to return to the shelter with the necessary aid for the delivery of her children, and she succeeded – the first baby is a very bright young boy.
“Can you count how many puppies there are? It’s 14 – Natajuli gave birth to 14 adorable babies.”
Natajuli and her 14 babies were taken to the vet for a brief check-up, ultrasound, and blood tests; she was flushed. Her 14 puppies are all chubby and weigh a lot.
“I almost cried when I saw her smiling, her babies are so beautiful – I just want to kiss them.”
